Article 1: Definitions

 

We, Us, Our & Ourselves

means Bahrain Air

 

You, Your & Yourself

means any person, except members of the crew, carried or to be carried in an aircraft pursuant to a Ticket. (Please refer to the definition for Passenger).

 

Airline Designator Code

means the two characters or three letters which identify particular air carriers.

 

Authorized Agent

means a passenger sales agent who has been appointed to represent Us in the sale of Our services.

 

 Additional Baggage

means the Passenger purchasing for additional luggage over and above the Baggage Allowance provided it complies with the Baggage Dimensions.

 

Advanced Seat Selection Charges

means the charges incurred for the purchase of a seat or for an agreed price.

 

Baggage

means Your personal property accompanying You in connection with Your trip. Unless otherwise specified, consists of Your Checked and Unchecked Baggage.

 

Baggage Allowance

means maximum total weight for all Checked Baggage and the total weight for the Unchecked Baggage which is permitted to be carried by each Passenger when flying with Us.

 

Baggage Check

means those portions of the Ticket which records the carriage of Your Checked Baggage.

 

Baggage Identification Tag

means a document issued solely for identification of Checked Baggage.

 

Baggage Dimensions

means the total dimension of a Baggage to include length+ height+ width = total dimension, and which shall not exceed 158 cm for each piece of Baggage.

 

BHD

means Bahraini Dinar(s).

 

Carrier

means an Air Carrier other than Ourselves, whose airline designator code appears on Your Ticket or on a Conjunction Ticket.

 

Checked Baggage

means Baggage of which We take custody and for which We have issued a Baggage Check.

 

Check-in Deadline

means the time limit specified by Us by which You must have completed check-in formalities and received Your boarding pass.

 

Conditions of Carriage

means these General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage

 

Conjunction Ticket

means a Ticket issued to  You with more than one Ticket number which together constitute a single contract of carriage

 

Convention

means any one or more of the following international instruments which is or are applicable:

 

The Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to International Carriage by Air, signed at Warsaw, 12 October 1929 (hereinafter referred to as "the Warsaw Convention");

 

The Warsaw Convention as amended at The Hague on 28 September 1955;

 

The Warsaw Convention as amended by the Additional Protocol No. 1 of Montreal (1975);

 

The Warsaw Convention as amended at The Hague and by Additional Protocol No. 2 of Montreal (1975);

 

The Warsaw Convention as amended at The Hague and by Additional Protocol No. 3 of Montreal (1975);

 

The Warsaw Convention as amended at The Hague on 28 September 1955 and by the Guatemala City Protocol on 8th March 1971 and by additional Protocol No. 3 of Montreal (1975);

 

The Warsaw Convention as amended at The Hague and by Additional Protocol No. 4 of Montreal (1975);

 

The Guadalajara Supplementary Convention (1961);

 

The Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air, signed at Montreal, 28 May 1999 (hereinafter referred to as "the Montreal Convention").

 

Damage

includes death, wounding, or bodily injury to a Passenger, loss, partial loss or theft of or other damage to Baggage arising out of, or in connection with carriage or other services incidental thereto performed by Us.

 

Days

means calendar days, including all seven days of the week; provided that, for the purpose of notification, the day upon which notice is dispatched shall not be counted; and provided further that for purposes of determining the duration of validity of a Ticket, the day upon which the Ticket is issued, or the flight commenced shall not be counted.

 

Electronic Ticket/ Ticket

means the Itinerary/Receipt issued by Us or on Our behalf, which includes Passenger’s name, flight and payment information.

 

Excess Baggage

means when the Passenger exceeds the Baggage Allowance and Baggage Dimension.

 

Excess Baggage Charges

means additional charges imposed for Excess Baggage.

 

Flexi Fare (Economy Class or Premium Business Class)

means categories of fare under Economy Class or under Premium Business Class.

 

Force Majeure

means unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond Our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised.

 

Passenger

means any person holding a valid Ticket with confirmed reservation for the flight .

 

Refund Administrative Fee

means a cancellation penalty attached to the applicable fare.

 

Stopover

means a voluntary stop on Your journey, at a point between the origin city and the destination city.

 

Tariffs

means the published fares, charges and/or related Conditions of Carriage filed, where required, with the appropriate authorities.

 

Ticket

means the contract (including but not limited to an Electronic Ticket, Terms and Conditions, Conditions of Carriage, notices and all related information) issued by Us or on Our behalf between You and Us.

 

Travel Regulations

are the rules published by Us, which are in force on the date the booking is made, which govern the carriage of Passengers and Baggage and shall include applicable Tariffs in force; these are available on Our website www.bahrainair.net and at Our offices upon request.

 

Unchecked Baggage

means any of Your Baggage other than Checked Baggage / Baggage which are hand carried.

 

Voucher

means a revenue document which can be redeemed for travel, excess baggage or any other service defined on issuance of this document.

 

 

In this Conditions of Carriage , unless the context requires otherwise:

  1. clause heading are for convenience only and do not affect the interpretation.
  2. words importing the singular include the plural and vice versa.
  3. words importing one gender include any other gender.

Article 2: Applicability

2.1. General

These Conditions of Carriage apply to Your carriage by air and other ancillary   services as specified herein. By way of making a reservation and purchasing   carriage by air and/or by embarking the Aircraft You agree to be bound by and confirm that You have read and understood these Conditions of Carriage.

 

Conditions Prevail Over Regulations
Except as provided in these Conditions of Carriage, in the event of inconsistency between these Conditions of Carriage and   any other regulations, We may have, dealing with particular subjects, these Conditions of Carriage shall prevail.

           

Language
These Conditions of Carriage may be reproduced in several languages. If there is any inconsistency between the English text and a non-English text, the English text will prevail.

 

Except as provided in paragraphs Articles 2.2 and 2.3 these Conditions of Carriage apply to all flights or flight segments, operated by Us.

 

2.2. Charter Operations

If carriage is performed pursuant to a charter agreement, these Conditions of Carriage apply only to the extent they are incorporated by reference or otherwise in the charter agreement or the Ticket.

 

2.3. Code Share

We may have code share arrangements with other international Carriers, to operate as a joint code between point to point. That means if Ticket issued from point A to point B, where a code share signed agreement prevails, the Ticket could be accepted by both Carriers. If such arrangements apply, We will advise You of the Carrier operating the aircraft at the time You make a reservation.

Article 3: Electronic Ticket / Ticket

3.1. General

We will provide carriage only to (a) person who possess a printed Electronic Ticket / Ticket valid for that flight, (b) who are named as the Passenger in the booking confirmed itinerary, (c) who produce a valid passport or authorized travel document (d) a valid visa ( if applicable).

 

We shall not carry You onboard the flight if the Electronic Ticket / Ticket or travel document presented is mutilated, spoilt or tampered with.

 

If, You have lost your Electronic Ticket / Ticket you have to notify us well in advance and before departure of your flight to enable us to provide You with Your Electronic Ticket / Ticket.

 

3.2. Right to Refuse Carriage

We reserve the right to refuse carriage to any person who attempts to travel in violation of applicable law, Tariffs or the Conditions of Carriage, or who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or if We believe that it is necessary for the safety or comfort of other Passengers and for the protection of property.

 

3.3. Validity

Unless stated differently in the Electronic Ticket/ Ticket, these Conditions of Carriage, in any Tariffs which apply, an Electronic Ticket/ Ticket is valid up to the date of travel.

 

3.4. Our Name and Address

Our name may be abbreviated in the Ticket by Our Airline Designator Code (BN). Our principal place of business address is: Mohamed Centre, 151 Road No. 44, Arad 243, Muharraq, Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

3.5. Vouchers

A Voucher issued by Us can only be used for either partial or full payment for Your travel and services provided by Us and as defined therein. The validity of this Voucher shall be for 1 year from the date of the issuance of the Voucher.

 

Procedure:

  1. The Voucher will be sent to Your original email address provided when making your reservation. 
  2. The Vouchers can be redeemed through any of Our sales outlets, Our call centre, Authorized Agents and through our website.
  3. Some Flexi Fare and booking confirmations have conditions attached to them which limit or exclude your right to change or cancel reservations. The different types of booking confirmations and the rights and restrictions connected to them are set out in this Conditions of Carriage.
  4. Unless otherwise set out in the booking confirmation, these Conditions of Carriage and the booking confirmation are valid only for the flight recorded on the booking confirmation. Your booking confirmation will be invalid and will not be honoured by Us if not used in the sequence stated in the booking confirmation.
  5. Unless otherwise provided for in this Conditions of Carriage, no refund or alternative travel will be given if the passenger does not appear for the flight within the advised time limits or before the boarding gate is closed.

3.6. Seating

  1. We cannot provide a guarantee that You will be able to sit in any particular seat of choice.
  2. We reserve the right to assign or reassign seats at any time, even after boarding of the aircraft. This may be necessary for operational safety or security reasons. 

 3.7. Aircraft

  1. We cannot guarantee any particular aircraft will be used for Your carriage. We reserve the right to change the aircraft on which you will be carried, whether for operational, safety, security reasons or otherwise.
  2. Very occasionally, it may be necessary for Us temporarily to supplement our fleet with aircraft operated for Us by another airline. If this applies to any aircraft on which You are due to be carried by Us, we will try to inform You of the identity of the operator of the aircraft, or try to ensure that our Authorized Agents give You such   information. We will try also to ensure that You receive the same level of in-flight service, entertainment, and baggage allowance advertised for Your flight, but cannot guarantee that this will always be possible

Article 4: Fares (rules for Flexi Fares), Taxes, Fees, Charges and Currency
4.1. Fares apply only for carriage from the airport at the point of origin to the point of destination, unless otherwise expressly stated. The fare will be for travel on specific dates and itinerary shown on the Ticket. If You wish to change Your itinerary or dates of travel, this may increase the fare.

 

4.2. You have to pay for the following in Your Fare:

  1. the total amount of all applicable taxes, fees and charges imposed on Us by any Government or other Authorities, or by the operator of an airport, which We are obliged to collect from You or to pay in respect of Your carriage;
  2. any charges that may be imposed on Us by third parties in connection with Your booking (for example, insurance Premium Business supplements or additional security costs triggered by unlawful interference with civil aviation);
  3. any charges that result in increased operational costs ( for example, fuel charges)caused by exceptional circumstances beyond Our control;

Should You not pay any of the above in your applicable fare including without limitation applicable taxes, fees, charges, optional charges for Your reservation prior to Your flight, We reserve the right to cancel Your reservation and deny boarding.

4.4. Flexi Fares

 

Business Premium -

  1. Premium
    1. This fare is for one passenger and includes all applicable taxes and  surcharges.
    2. You can change your booking up to 3 hours before the flight(s) departure by paying any difference in fare (subject to seat availability) if the fare is higher. If the fare is lower, no refund will be issued.
    3. You can cancel Your booking up to 24 hours before departure with an administrative fee of BD 10 per passenger, per sector.
    4. If you missed Your flight, You can do one of the following:
      1. You may change your booking by contacting Us and paying a BD 15 administrative fee per passenger, per sector plus any difference in fare. The Ticket for the missed or unutilized sector has to be utilized within 90 days from the date the flight was missed.
      2. You may get a refund provided Your Ticket is fully unutilized (outbound and inbound only) by contacting Us and paying a BD 35 administrative fee per passenger, per sector.
      3. No refund shall be provided to the passenger in the event any one sector is utilized per Ticket.
    5. No name changes are permissible.

Economy –

  1. Value
    1. This fare is for one passenger and includes all applicable taxes and surcharges.
    2. You can change Your booking up to 24 hours before the flight(s) departure by paying an administrative fee of BD 20 per passenger, per sector, plus any difference in fare (subject to seat availability) if the fare is higher. If the fare   is lower, no refund will be issued.
    3. Refund will not be issued if You cancel Your booking or missed your flight.
    4. No name changes are permissible. 
  2. Easy
    1. This fare is for one passenger and includes all applicable taxes and surcharges.
    2. You can change Your booking up to 12 hours before the flight(s) departure by paying an administrative fee of BD 10 per passenger, per sector, plus any difference in fare (subject to seat availability) if the fare is higher.  If the fare is lower, no refund will be issued.
    3. You can cancel Your booking up to 24 hours before departure with an   administrative fee of BD 20 per passenger, per sector.
    4. If You missed Your flight, You can do one of the following:
      1. You may change Your booking by contacting Us and paying a BD30 administrative fee per passenger, per sector plus any differencein fare. Ticket for the missed or unutilized sector has to be utilized within 90 days from the date the flight was missed.
      2. You may get a refund provided Your Ticket is fully unutilized (outbound and inbound only) by contacting Us and paying a BD 35 administrative fee per passenger, per sector.
      3. No refund shall be provided to the passenger in the event any one sector is utilized per Ticket.
    5. No name changes are permissible.  
  3. Smart
    1. This fare is for one passenger and includes all applicable taxes and surcharges.
    2. You can change your booking up to 3 hours before the flight(s) departure by paying any difference in fare (subject to seat availability) if the fare is higher. If the fare is lower, no refund will be issued.
    3. You can cancel Your booking up to 24 hours before departure with an   administrative fee of BD10 per passenger, per sector.
    4. If you missed Your flight, You can do one of the following:
      1. You may change Your booking by contacting Us and paying a BD15 administrative fee per passenger, per sector plus any difference in fare. Ticket for the missed or unutilized sector has to be utilized within 90 days from the date the flight was missed.
      2. You may get a refund provided Your Ticket is fully unutilized (outbound and inbound only) by contacting Us and paying a BD 35 administrative fee per passenger, per sector.
      3. No refund shall be provided to the passenger in the event any one sector is utilized per Ticket.
    5. No name changes are permissible.

Please note that all rules shall apply in any changes done by You to your ticket type except rules concerning the refund policies where You shall be refunded in accordance to the original Ticket type chosen at the time of the initial reservation.

 

Easy fare rules apply to bookings made through third party websites unless stated otherwise.

  

4.5. Taxes and Surcharges
Applicable taxes, fees and charges imposed by any Government or other Authorities, or by the operator of an airport, shall be payable by You. At the time You purchase Your Ticket, Our fares include taxes and surcharges, which are subject to change    from time to time

 

4.6. Name changes
No name changes are permissible.

 

4.7. Cancellation and Refund
The processing of the refund would be as per the fare rule mentioned under Article 4.4 as hereinabove and if applicable. We do not offer a cash refund. If You decide to cancel Your flight, Our Voucher is issued, less the Refund Administrative Fee applicable to each Flexi Fare class.

 

4.8. Bookings made with Credit Cards
Payments by selected credit card(s) are acceptable except in specific countries where  certain restrictions apply.

  1. If You purchase a ticket for yourself using Your own Credit Card, You must adduce the original credit card which was used in the transaction, at the time of check-in.
  2. If You purchase a ticket for Yourself using others’ Credit Card, You must adduce the following at the check-in counter at the time of travel for verification- (i) copy of the credit card, (ii) copy of identity proof of the credit card holder (i.e. passport copy / national id card issued by the government authority) (iii) telephone number of the credit card holder.

The failure to adhere to (a) and (b) above shall result in denied boarding

 

4.9. Child Fare

This is applicable to children between the ages of 2 to 11 years old, based on destinations.
A child must at all times be accompanied by a person who is of the minimum age of 16 years.

 

4.10. Service Charges

For bookings made through Authorized Agents or through Our call centre, direct sales outlets and payment partners, Premium Business Class Passenger will be charged a Service Charge of BHD 6 (or equivalent) per Passenger for travel within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and BHD 10 (or equivalent) per Passenger for travel outside the GCC. For bookings made through Authorized Agents or through Our call centre, direct sales outlets and payment partners, Economy Class Passengers will be charged a Service Charge of BHD 4 (or equivalent) per Passenger for travel within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and BHD 6 (or equivalent) per Passenger for travel outside the GCC. These fees will not be refunded in case of the cancellation of the booking by the Passenger.

 

4.11. Advanced Seat Selection Charges

Advanced Seat Selection Charges shall not be refundable and shall not be transferable, in the event of cancellation and modification of a booking by the Passenger.

 

4.12. Currency and Currency Conversion

Fares, taxes, fees and charges are payable in local currencies, where applicable (for clarity purpose Bahraini Dinars when making payments in the Kingdom of Bahrain). We may, at Our discretion, accept payments in other currency.

Currency rates are based on several publically available sources. The accuracy of such rates is not verified and actual rates may vary. Currency codes are not updated every day.

We believe in the accuracy of the information supplied by this application, but We do   not want to warrant or guarantee such accuracy.

 
If using this information for any financial purpose, We advise You to consult a qualified professional to verify the accuracy of the currency rates.

 
We do not authorize the use of this information for any other purposes, except to  facilitate the terms and conditions as mentioned in this Conditions of Carriage and to  prohibit to the maximum extent for resale, redistribution and for the use of  commercial purposes.

 

4.13. Administration Charges

 We reserve the right to charge a reasonable administration fee for additional services, not included in the price of the Ticket, including, but not limited to, requests for personal data pursuant to Article 5.

 

4.14. Reservation requirements

  1. Some of the above mentioned Flexi Fares have conditions attached to them which limit or exclude Your right to change or cancel reservations. Details of any such conditions will be provided at the time of booking, upon Your request.
  2. You must inform Us at the time of booking that You have a medical condition or other condition for which You may require medical assistance or special assistance during embarkation, disembarkation or aboard an aircraft.

Article 5: Personal Data

5.1. Personal Data

You recognize that personal data has been given to Us for the purposes of making a reservation, purchasing a Ticket, obtaining ancillary services, developing and providing services, facilitating immigration and entry procedures, and making available such data to government agencies, in connection with Your travel.

For these purposes, You authorize Us to retain and use such data and to transmit it to Our own offices, the Authorized Agents, Government Agencies, other Carriers or the providers of the above-mentioned services.

Article 6: Check-in and Boarding

6.1. Check-in Deadlines

Check-in counters open three hours prior to scheduled departure time.


Check-in counters close one hour prior to departure time.

 

Please refer to the respective Fare Rules (as mentioned hereinabove) in the event You have missed Your flight.

 

Boarding Gate closes 20 minutes prior to departure time. The aircraft will not be held for any passenger (s) if they arrive at the boarding gate after this time.

 

Note: Failure to report at the departure gate 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time will result in the entire fare being forfeited.

 

6.2. Boarding Gate Deadlines

You must be present at the boarding gate not later than the time specified by Us when You check in. We may decide not to carry You, without being liable for any loss or expense You may suffer if You fail to arrive at the boarding gate on time.

 

6.3. Administration

You are solely responsible for complying with all laws, regulations, orders, demands    and requirements of countries to be flown from, into or over and with Our Carrier’s Regulations and instructions given by Us relating thereto. We shall not be liable in    any way whatsoever to You in connection with obtaining necessary documents or complying with such laws, regulations, orders, demands, requirements or instructions, whether given orally or in writing or otherwise, or for the consequences to You resulting from Your failure to obtain such documents or to comply with such laws, regulations, orders, demands, requirements and/or instructions.

 

We will not be liable to You for any loss or expense incurred due to Your failure to     
comply with the provisions of this Article.

 

6.4. On Board services

  1. We will not provide any guarantees about availability of in-flight entertainment equipment and advertised programs, advertised special meals or any other type of meals or the availability of advertised in-flight services.
  2. We will not provide any guarantee that special meals will always conform to their exact description. This is because they have been prepared by third  parties to Our order. We do not accept requests for nut free meals and We do not guarantee that the environment aboard Our aircraft will be nut free or free of other related sensitivities.                     

6.5. Ground services

  1. We will not provide any guarantees about the provision/availability of equipment and services on the ground at respective airports, for example- fast track services, airport lounges and the facilities available within those lounges.
  2. We will not provide any guarantee that ground services will always conform to their exact description. This is because some services are provided by third parties to Our order.

Article 7: Refusal and Limitation of Carriage

 

7.1. Right to Refuse Carriage
In the reasonable exercise of Our discretion, We may refuse to carry You or Your Baggage if We have notified You in writing that We will not at any time after the date   of said notice carry You on Our flights.

We may refuse to carry You or Your Baggage if one or more of the following has occurred or We reasonably believe may occur:

  • Such action is necessary in order to comply with any applicable government laws, regulations, or orders.
  • The carriage of You or Your Baggage may endanger or affect the safety, health or materially affect the comfort of other Passengers or crew.
  • Your mental or physical state, including Your impairment from alcohol or drugs presents a hazard or risk to Yourself, to passengers, to crew or to property.
  • You have refused to submit to a security check
  • You have not paid the applicable fare, taxes, fees or charges.
  • You do not appear to have valid travel documents, may seek to enter a country through which You may be in transit, or for which You do not have valid travel documents, destroy Your travel documents during flight or refuse to surrender Your travel documents to the flight crew, against receipt when so requested or refuse to allow Us to photocopy Your travel documents.
  • You present a Ticket that has been acquired unlawfully, has been purchased from an entity other than Us or Our Authorized Agent, has been reported as being lost or stolen, or is a counterfeit, or You cannot prove that You are the person named in the Ticket.
  • You fail to observe Our instructions with respect to safety or security.
  • If You have not obeyed the instructions of Our ground staff or a member of the crew of the aircraft relating to safety or security and /or use threatening, abusive or insulting words towards Our ground staff or a member of the crew of the aircraft.
  • If You have behaved in a threatening, abusive, insulting or disorderly way towards a member of Our ground staff or a member of the crew of the aircraft.
  • If You made a hoax threat relating to bombs, biological or chemical weapons.
  • If You have committed a criminal offence during check-in or boarding processes or onboard the aircraft.
  • If carrying You would break Government laws, regulations, or orders; if You have refused to give Us information, which a Government authority has asked to provide about You.
  • If You cannot prove, You are the person named in the Ticket when presenting it for check-in or boarding. We reserve the right to retain such Ticket in these circumstances.
  • If You have failed to present Your Ticket or Your Boarding Pass or Your travel document to Us when reasonably asked to do so; if You have failed to complete the check-in process by the Check-in Deadline; if You have failed to arrive at the boarding gate on time.
  • If You have committed one or more of the acts or omissions mentioned above on/or in connection with a previous flight and We believe You may repeat this behaviour.
  • If You have put the safety of either the aircraft or any person in it in danger.

If You have been advised that You are fit to fly provided certain precautions are taken (for example, use of medication) it is Your responsibility to ensure that all such precautions are in fact taken before, during and after Your flight (as the case may be) and that You will be able to produce any written proper evidence of Your fitness to fly if so required by Us.

 

7.2. Carriage of Expectant Mothers and Infants 

  1. Expectant Mothers
    Expectant mothers who are beyond 28 weeks of pregnancy and up to 32 weeks require medical clearance from their doctor. They must present a doctor's certificate, obtained not more than one week before travel, confirming, fitness to travel and stating the following:
    • Duration of the pregnancy
    • Date of last menstrual period (LMP).
    • Expected delivery date (EDD).
    • Blood pressure: Haemoglobin.

    Air travel is not permitted for women who are beyond 32 weeks of pregnancy and for mothers within the first fifteen days after delivery.

  2. Infants
    Infants within fifteen days of birth shall not be accepted for travel. 
  3. Unaccompanied Minors
    Presently, Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service is not offered by Us. 
  4. Special Assistance
    Acceptance for carriage of incapacitated persons, pregnant women, persons with illness or other people requiring special assistance is subject to prior arrangement with Us. Passengers with illness or disabilities must advise Us of any special requirements they may have at the time of booking. Failure to advise Us of any special needs at the time of booking and appropriately in advance will result in the service being unavailable and being refused without refund or credit. 
  5. Passenger reimbursement of medical expenses 
    Should You be taken ill on aboard the Aircraft due to a condition pre-existing the flight (regardless of whether or not you were aware of it) or due to Your pregnancy, You will pay to Us the cost of expenses paid by Us in treating You aboard an aircraft, transporting You on the ground, or paying for treatment provided by a third party. You will also pay any costs we have incurred in diverting an aircraft to seek medical assistance.

Article 8: Refusal and Limitation of Carriage 

 

8.1. Baggage Allowance

Baggage Dimensions means the total dimension of a Baggage to include length + height + width = total dimension, and which shall not exceed 158 cm for each piece of Baggage.

 

Notes:

  • Any Checked Baggage or Unchecked Baggage or Baggage exceeding the above mentioned Baggage Allowances and Baggage Dimensions shall be treated as Excess Baggage . The Passenger shall be charged as per the Excess Baggage Charges which are published at each originating airport(s).
  • Each Passenger is only permitted to carry two (2) pieces of Checked Baggage, with the total dimensions not exceeding 158cm .
  • Baggage Allowances will be periodically adjusted, Passengers are at all times advised to visit this website for latest updates. These per kilo rates will be charged according to the travel sector.

 

8.2. Items Unacceptable as Baggage

You must not include in Your Baggage:

Items which are likely to endanger the aircraft or persons or property on board the    aircraft, such as those specified in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Dangerous Goods Regulations,   and in Our Regulations (further information is available from Us on request).

 

Items the carriage of which is prohibited by the applicable laws, regulations or orders of any State to be flown from to or over:

  • Items which are reasonably considered by Us to be unsuitable for carriage because they are dangerous or unsafe, or because of their weight, size, shape or character, or because they are fragile or perishable having regard to, among other things, the type of aircraft being used. Information about unacceptable items is available upon request;
  • Firearms and ammunitions other than for hunting and sporting purposes are prohibited from carriage as Baggage. Firearms and ammunitions for hunting and sporting purposes may be accepted as Checked Baggage. Firearms must be unloaded, with the safety catch on, and suitably packed. Carriage of ammunition is subject to ICAO and IATA Regulations as specified in Article 8.3;
  • Weapons such as antique firearms, swords, knives and similar items may be accepted as Checked Baggage, at Our discretion, but will not be permitted in the cabin of the aircraft;
  • You must not include in Checked Baggage money, jewellery, precious metals, computers, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, passports, other identification documents any all other related items of similar worth (referred to as Items not to be included in the Checked Baggage); and If, despite being prohibited, any items referred to in Article 8.3 are included in Your Baggage, We shall not be responsible for any loss or damage due to such items.

 8.3. Right to Refuse Carriage

We will refuse to carry as Baggage the items described in Article 8.3, and We may refuse further carriage of any such items upon discovery.

 

We may refuse to carry as Baggage any item reasonably considered by Us to be unsuitable for carriage because of its size, shape, weight, content or character, or for safety or operational reasons, or in the interests of the comfort of other Passengers. Information about unacceptable items is available upon request.

 

We may refuse to accept Baggage for carriage unless it is in Our reasonable opinion   properly and securely packed in suitable containers.

 
Information about packing and containers acceptable to Us is available upon request.

 

8.4. Right of Search

For reasons of safety and security, We may request that You permit a search and scan of Your person and a search, scan or x-ray off Your Baggage. If You are not available, Your Baggage may be searched in Your absence for the purpose of determining whether You are in possession of or whether Your Baggage contains any items described in Article 8.3 or any firearms, ammunitions or weapons, which have not been presented to Us in accordance with Articles 8.3.

 

If You are unwilling to comply with such requests, We shall refuse to carry You and Your Baggage. In the event a search or scan causes Damage to You, or an x-ray or a scan causes Damage to Your Baggage We shall not be liable for such Damage unless due to Our fault or negligence.

 

8.5. Checked Baggage

Upon delivery to Us of Your Baggage, which You wish to check- in, We will take custody of, and issue a Baggage Identification Tag for each piece of Your Checked Baggage.

 

Checked Baggage must have Your name or other personal identification affixed to it.

 

Checked Baggage will, whenever possible, be carried on the same aircraft as You unless We decide for safety, security or operational reasons to carry it on an alternative flight.

 
If Your Checked Baggage is carried on a subsequent flight, We will deliver it to You, unless applicable law requires You to be present for customs clearance.

 

Conditions:

  1. The passenger will need to complete and sign a Passenger Declaration Form, advising Customs that We have been given permission to clear the bag(s) on Your behalf. The airline personnel will clear the Passenger's Baggage only if the contents are non-dutiable. If the items are deemed non-dutiable, the bags will be sent to the address provided, without charge.
  2. If the contents are deemed dutiable by Customs You will be required to come to the airport to clear Your own bag(s).

  8.6. Unchecked Baggage

  1. Cabin or hand baggage allowance per Passenger is 1 piece with a total maximum weight not exceeding 7 Kg. The total dimensions of which should not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm.

    Additional charge will apply for excess Unchecked Baggage. Baggage which You carry on the aircraft must fit under the seat in front of You or in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft. If Your Baggage cannot be stored in this manner or is of excessive weight or dimension, or is considered unsafe for any reason, it must be carried as Checked Baggage, subject to Article 8.1 and 8.6 as mentioned hereinabove.
  2. Objects not suitable for carriage in the cargo compartment, (such as delicate musical instruments) and which do not meet the requirements in Article 8.7.1 above, will   only be accepted for carriage in the cabin compartment if You have given Us notice in advance and permission has been granted by Us. You may be required to pay a separate charge for this service.
  3. Any liquid, aerosols, gels or paste in a container measuring greater than 100 ml each must be packed in the Checked Baggage. Any individual container measuring over 100 ml (even if the content is less than 100 ml) will NOT be allowed on board. All such items may be carried as carry-on items provided they have been kept in a separate clear plastic, zip top, re-sealable bag and the total volume does not exceed one liter or the pack size does not exceed 20 cm X 20 cm.

8.7. Collection and Delivery of Checked Baggage

Subject to Article 8.6, You are required to collect Your Checked Baggage as soon as   it is made available at Your destination or Stopover. Should You not collect it within a reasonable time, We may charge You a storage fee. Should Your Checked Baggage not be claimed within sixty (60) days, We may dispose of it without any liability to You.

Only the bearer of the Baggage Check and Baggage Identification Tag is entitled to delivery of the Checked Baggage.

If a person claiming Checked Baggage is unable to produce the Baggage Check and Identify the Baggage by means of a Baggage Identification Tag, We will deliver the Baggage to such a person only on condition that he or she establishes to Our satisfaction his or her right to the Baggage.

 

8.8. Lost Baggage

  1. Although We make every effort to ensure that Your baggage is handled with care, due to the complexity of airport baggage handling systems, incidents can and do occur.
  2. If Your Baggage is lost following a flight, You must advise a member of Our staff, or our representative at the airport of arrival immediately. They will complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) with the details and provide you with a Property Irregularity Report Number, which should be quoted in all subsequent enquiries or correspondence. Our responsibility for loss to baggage is limited and compensation will not exceed the paid Ticket amount for the sector where the incident occurred. Therefore, We strongly recommend to insure Your baggage if the value is in excess the paid Ticket sector fare.
  3. We do not accept liability for fragile, valuable, electronic, perishable items, documents, (please cross refer to) Items not to be included in the Checked Baggage packed in Your checked baggage or for baggage which is packed in unsuitable or damaged containers.
  4. Lost Baggage - If the bag is suspected to be loss, the tracing will continue for twenty one (21) days, at which time if the bag is still not found, You will be required to submit a claim and the following documents or information:
    1. a copy of the ticket
    2. a copy of the passport of the passenger
    3. a baggage tag (can be found on either your ticket or boarding pass)
    4. an excess baggage receipt, if applicable
    5. an itemized list of contents showing individual costs and currency (we recommend that you keep your receipts of recently purchased items)
    6. Property Irregularity Report
    7. your full bank account details (name of bank, full address of the bank, bank account and swift code of the bank)

    Your claim cannot be processed until We receive the relevant documentation. Once the relevant documentation has been submitted, and depending on the complexity of the matter, We anticipate completion of Your claim will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
  5. Time limit to initiate actions for compensation- You will have no right to compensation, if a claim is not made within 6 months of the date of your arrival at the place of destination.

8.9. Domesticated Animals and Birds

We reserve the right, at Our absolute discretion, to refuse to carry any animals. If We agree to carry any animals, they will be carried subject to the following conditions:

  • You must ensure that domesticated animals such as dogs, cats, household birds and other pets, are properly crated or carried in a container, complying with any applicable governing regulations including but not limited to valid health vaccination certificates, entry permits and other documents required by countries of entry or transit, failing which they will not be accepted for carriage. Such carriage may be subject to additional conditions specified by Us, which are available on request.
  • If accepted as Baggage, the domesticated animal together with its container and food shall not be included in Your free Baggage allowance, but shall constitute excess Baggage charged to a minimum of 5 kilos, for which You will be obliged to pay an applicable rate.

When carriage is not subject to the liability rules of the Convention, We are not responsible for injury to or loss, sickness or death of an animal which We have agreed to carry unless We have been negligent.

 

We will have no liability in respect of any such animal not having all the necessary exit, entry, health and other documents with respect to animals entry into or passage through any country, state or territory and the person carrying the animal must reimburse Us from any fines, costs, losses or liabilities reasonably imposed or    incurred by Us as a result.

 

8.10. Items Removed by Airport Security Personnel

We will not be responsible for, or have any liability in respect of articles removed  from Your baggage by an airport security or customs personnel acting in accordance with any applicable Government or Aviation Regulations.

Article 9: Schedules, Delays, Cancellations and Diversions of Flights

9.1. Schedules

The flight times shown in timetables may change between the date of publication and the date You actually travelled.

 

You will be notified of the flight scheduled time in effect as of that time and it will be shown on Your Ticket. It is possible that We may need to change the scheduled flight time subsequent to issuance of Your Ticket.

 

If You provide Us with contact details (telephone numbers, email ids), We will endeavor to notify You of any such changes.

 

9.2. Flight Disruptions Policy

We will endeavor to carry the Passenger and the Baggage in accordance with the date and time of flights specified. The schedules, however, may change without notice for a range of reasons, including but not limited to bad weather, air traffic    control delays, strikes, technical disruptions, late arrival of incoming aircraft, VVIP movement, force majeure and/or consequential reactionary delays.

 

We shall not be liable for any costs, expenses, losses or damages incurred by the Passenger(s) as a result of failure to operate a schedule. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover some of the unforeseen eventualities.

 

9.3. Joining Passengers

  1. In the event of Delay:
    • Provide snacks for delays of up to 2 hours and meals for delays of more than 4 hours.
    • Re-accommodate the joining Passengers on the next available (Bahrain Air) Our flight(s)
    • Refund the amount paid in the form of original payment made
    • Transfer the joining passenger on other similar airlines provided, Passenger agrees to pay the difference between the actual cost of the new booking made with other airline and what has been paid to Us for the travel on the affected flight(s). 
  2. In the event of cancelled flight:
    • Re-accommodate the joining Passengers on the next available (Bahrain Air) Our flight(s)
    • Refund the amount paid in the form of original payment made.

9.4. Passengers in Transit

  1. In the event of Delay:
    • Provide snacks for delays of up to 2 hours and meals for delays of more than 4 hours.
    • Re-accommodate the transit Passengers on the next available (Bahrain Air) Our flight(s)
    • Transfer the transit passenger on other similar airlines provided, Passenger agrees to pay the difference between the actual cost of the new booking made with other airline and what has been paid to Us for the travel on the affected flight(s). 
  2. In the event of cancelled flight:
    • Re-accommodate the transit Passengers on the next available (Bahrain Air) Our flight(s).
    • If required, by providing reasonable accommodation subject to immigration clearance and room availability.

 Article 10: Refunds

If We cancel Our flight or there is a disruption due to reasons beyond Our control, Tickets purchased on Our flights are non-transferable, non-endorsable, but are refundable only for the disrupted or cancelled sector.

 

However, in case of death and illness of the Passenger (with medical certificates being adduced by the next of kin), a full refund will be provided to the next of kin provided the next of kin adduces the supporting relevant documents.

Wherever applicable Flexi Fare refund rules applies ( as per Article 4.4), the Passengers are advised to apply for a refund by emailing the customercare@bahrainair.net.

With reference to Flexi Fare refund rules ( as per Article 4.4) and to the above, refunds are to be redeemed within one year from the original date of the Ticket issuance.

Article 11: Conduct Aboard Aircraft

11.1. General
If, in Our reasonable opinion, You conduct Yourself aboard the aircraft so as to endanger the aircraft or any person or property on board, or obstruct the crew in the performance of their duties, or fail to comply with any instructions of the crew, including but not limited to, those with respect to smoking, alcohol or drug consumption, or behave in a manner which causes discomfort, inconvenience, damage or injury to other Passengers or the crew, We may take such measures as We deem reasonably necessary to prevent continuation of such conduct, including restraint. You maybe disembark and refused onward carriage at any point, and may be prosecuted for offences committed on board the aircraft.

 
11.2. Electronic Devices

For safety reasons, We may forbid or limit the operation aboard the aircraft of some electronic equipment, including but not limited to cellular telephones; laptop computers, portable recorders, portable radios, CD players, electronic games or transmitting devices, including radio-controlled toys and walkie-talkies. The usage of hearing aids and heart pacemakers are permitted within parameters of medical approval.

 
11.3. On board alcohol and Non Smoking
You are not allowed to consume alcohol and/or to smoke aboard the aircraft  (whether purchased as duty free from Us or someone else or otherwise obtained).

 

11.4. Breach of duty
If We reasonably believe that You have failed to fully observe the duties placed on You by Articles 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 to 11.4:

We reserve the right to do any of the following:

  1. report the matter to any relevant police or other enforcement authority; and
  2. We may take such measures to prevent the continuation or repetition of the offending conduct including, for example, physical restraint and/or removal of You from the aircraft and/or refusal to carry You after a Stopover (whether made for the purpose of removing You from the aircraft or otherwise); and
  3. We may decide to refuse to carry you at any time in the future; and
  4. You will reimburse Us for any costs incurred in order to:
    1. compensate any Passenger or crew member affected by your actions
    2. repair or replace property lost, damaged or destroyed by You; and
    3. divert the aircraft for the purpose of removing You from the aircraft.

Article 12: Arrangement for Additional Services

12.1. General
If We make arrangements for You with any third party to provide any services other than carriage by air, or if We issue a Ticket or Voucher relating to transportation or services (other than carriage by air) provided by a third party such as hotel reservations or car rental, in doing so We act only as Your facilitator directory. The terms and conditions of the third party service provider will apply to You and We shall have no liability to You.

 

If We are also providing surface transport to You, other conditions may apply to surface transport. Such conditions are available from Us upon request.

Article 13: Administrative Formalities

13.1. General
You are responsible for obtaining all required travel documents and visas and for complying with all laws, regulations, orders, demands, and travel requirements of countries to be flown from, into or to which You transit.

 

We shall not be liable for the consequences to any Passenger resulting from his or her failure to obtain such documents or visas or to comply with such laws, regulations, orders, demands, requirements, rules or instructions.

 

13.2. Travel Documents
Prior to travel, You must present all exit, entry, health and other documents required by the laws, regulations, orders, demands or other requirements of the countries concerned, and permit Us to take and retain copies thereof.

We reserve the right to refuse carriage if You have not complied with these requirements, or Your travel documents does not appear to be in order.

 

13.3. Refusal of Entry
If You are denied entry into any country, You will be responsible to pay any fine or charge assessed against Us by the Government concerned and for the cost of transporting You from that country. The fare collected for carriage to the point of refusal or denied entry will not be refunded by Us.

 

13.4. Passenger Responsible For Fines, Detention Costs, related levies and cost
If We are required to pay any fine, penalty or to incur any expenditure by reason of Your failure to comply with laws, regulations, orders, demands or other travel requirements of the countries concerned or to produce the required documents, You shall reimburse Us on demand any amount so paid or expenditure so incurred. We may apply towards such payment or expenditure the value of any unused carriage on Your Ticket, or any of Your funds in Our possession.

 

13.5. Customs Inspection
If required, You shall attend inspection of Your Baggage, by customs or other Government officials. We are not liable to You for any loss or damage suffered by You in the course of such an inspection or through Your failure to be present at such inspection.

 

13.6. Security Inspection
You shall submit to any security checks by Government officials, airport officials, Carriers or by Us to carry out security screening of You or Your Baggage.

Article 14: Other Regulations

14.1. General
Carriage of You and Your Baggage is also provided in accordance with certain other regulations and conditions applying to or adopted by Us. These regulations and conditions as varied from time to time are important. They concern among other things: flight changes, the carriage of young persons, reduced mobility passengers, pregnant or sick passengers, sports equipment, musical instruments, restrictions on use of electronic devices and items and the on board consumption of alcoholic beverages. Regulations and conditions concerning these and other matters are available from Us upon request.

Article 15: Interpretation

  1. At certain occasions some decisions are made in circumstances where limited time is available and no adequate opportunity exists to carry out any or sufficient enquiries. As a result, any such decision taken by Us will be final and binding on You even if subsequently proved to be incorrect, provided that at the time We made Our decision We had reasonable grounds for believing that it was the correct decision taken.
  2. We will use reasonable efforts to take correct decisions on the interpretation of applicable laws, regulations, orders or governmental policy.
  3. All dates and periods of time referred to in these Conditions of Carriage will be determined in accordance with the Gregorian calendar.
  4. Where We expressly state in these Conditions of Carriage that You must comply with applicable law or applicable governmental, ICAO or IATA requirements, you must make sure that You comply with such applicable law or requirements at all times and especially on the date or dates of Your carriage.
